Annual Igbo Language Debate and Writing Competition

The only way to keep a language alive is by transferring it from one generation to the other. However, this is not so in many African communities. Consequently, the need to inspire the younger generation to speak their local languages. This is the reason why we started the debate and writing competition in Igbo in 1979. Every year, the competition has grown bigger than the previous. Organised among Secondary Schools in Anambra state and in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Anambra State, winners receive cash prizes.
